An investigation is underway after a young woman was found dead in the courtyard of a high-rise housing complex. 

According to police, it happened at around 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Mott Haven Houses on East 144th Street and Willis Avenue. 

Officers say it's unclear whether she jumped, was pushed or fell. 

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
