The Suffolk County police officer shot during a traffic stop earlier this week is set to be released from the hospital.
Officer Mark Collins was shot twice in Huntington Station early Thursday morning. The 12-year veteran was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where the staff is calling his recovery "remarkable."
News 12 is told Collins' condition has been upgraded to good. He is expected to leave the hospital Sunday.
Police say the gunman, Sheldon Leftenant, was out on probation at the time of the shooting.
