A new study shows that diabetes medicine is getting more expensive.

The cost is expected to jump another 18 percent over the next three years.

Patient advocates say that the increase could prove to be too much for many who need that medication to survive.

Advocates say work should also be performed to educate young people on how to avoid becoming diabetic later in life.

The study was performed by an advocacy coalition called the Alliance for Community Health Plans.
