A whale was spotted off the shores of Fire Island on Tuesday.

Students from Woodhull School in Ocean Beach captured the video while taking part in a beach cleanup.

They spent the day picking up over 28 pounds of garbage.

It was part of a program sponsored by the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, which is designed to teach students how to keep beaches and waterways clean.
