Some shoppers braved the chilly winds today to get an early start on door-busting discounts.

There was a line of shivering bargain hunters outside of the Best Buy in Westbury today, waiting eagerly to purchase Black Friday deals.

A half-dozen of the big box stores, including Best Buy, were scheduled to open in the early evening Thursday, hours before the traditional 12 a.m. on Black Friday.

Kmart and Wal-Mart were open all day to get the jump on a shortened shopping season, as well as competition from online retailers.
