The recent heavy snow and ice are putting Long Island homes at risk for roof collapses.
Experts say the weight of a foot of snow and ice on an average roof could weigh as much as 4 tons.
Last night's snow is being blamed for a roof collapse at a Farmingdale electronic recycling company's warehouse. The weight of the snow also pulled down the façade of the World Gym Building in Setauket.
Experts recommend homeowners call a professional gutter or roofing contractor if they are concerned about snow buildup on roofs.
