Police are investigating a deadly accident in Rockville Centre.

Officials say a 71-year-old woman was crossing South Park Avenue at Lincoln Avenue around noon Monday when she was hit by a freightliner truck.

The woman suffered serious head injuries and died a short time later at the hospital.

The 26-year-old driver stayed and the scene and is not facing charges.

The victim has not yet been identified.
