Parents For Megan’s Law finds outdated information on Sex Offender Registry

An advocacy group presented some alarming problems with the Suffolk County Sex Offender Registry.
Parents For Megan's Law was hired by Suffolk County to verify all the information for the 920 sex offenders on the registry.
The group's executive director Laura Ahearn told the county's Public Safety Committee Thursday that many of the registered sex offenders had outdated addresses and images.
She said some sex offenders listed abandoned houses, vacant lots, even the Social Services building as their current address.
The group has verified 580 registered offenders and plans to have the list completed by May.
