Officials say an intense fire consumed a Massapequa home Wednesday night, destroying it.

They say the fire started in the backyard of the home on Shinnecock Avenue around 11 p.m.

Officials say a family of five and two dogs lived in the home, and that everyone was able to evacuate unharmed.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
