Officials say one person has been hospitalized following an apartment building fire in Hempstead.

The fire broke out on Fulton Avenue just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire officials say the fire started on the fifth floor, and the six-story building was fully occupied.

One person was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

No firefighters were hurt.

The cause is unknown at this time.
