NYPD Detective Hassan Hamdy, of Centereach, faces new charges in 2012 shooting of unarmed man in Queens

The NYPD officer involved in the deadly shooting of an unarmed man is now facing internal charges.
Police say Detective Hassan Hamdy, of Centereach, shot a National Guardsman during a traffic stop in Queens in 2012. He was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing by a grand jury.
The NYPD is now charging Hassan with failure to employ proper tactics.
If found guilty, he could be dismissed from the department.
