Suffolk's top homicide detective is retiring after 39 years on the force.
Detective Lt. John "Jack" Fitzpatrick, 61, leaves April 25, according to Newsday.
During the four decades behind the badge, FitzPatrick was involved in many investigations, including the Gilgo Beach murders and the Oheka Castle shooting.
