Nassau and Suffolk are teaming up to figure out how to help residents in case of another federal government shutdown.
The executives of both counties announced the creation of a bi-county working group to be led by former U.S. Rep. Steve Israel.
The group will help coordinate a regional response during federal shutdowns.
President Donald Trump and congressional leaders
struck a deal Friday to temporarily fund the government for three weeks. But Trump warned that the government could potentially shut down again if negotiations don’t lead to funding for a barrier along the US-Mexico border.
