Montauk residents say they are unhappy with new crosswalk signs, calling them too big, too bright and too gaudy.
They were installed as part of a program to increase pedestrian safety and paid for with state grant and town funds.
There are three in Amagansett and three in Montauk. Residents who spoke to News 12 said they were out of character for the towns.
“I don't think they fit. Honestly, I just don't like them,” says Diane Duca. “They're ugly. They're big.”
Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc says several of the signs have already been lowered and the company is working on some of the tech problems with the sensors that haven't been functioning properly.
