A Smithtown native is about to run seven marathons, in seven days, on seven continents.

Cara Nelson, who is a teacher at East Hampton Middle School, is competing in the World Marathon Challenge. It totals 183 miles.  

She'll be interacting with her students while she's running by posting live videos and lesson plans.

Nelson will also be raising funds for charity, including The Boys & Girls Club of America, StandUP to Cancer and Parkinson's disease.

The challenge kicks off on Jan. 30.
