Some hi-tech trash bins will be installed this summer at two beaches in the Town of Riverhead.

Officials say the trash cans will be set up at South Jamesport Beach and Iron Pier Beach.

The garbage cans will alert town sanitation crews when they need to be emptied.

The solar-powered trash cans will also provide Wi-Fi to people on the beaches.

Officials say they will be installed in about a month.
