Gas prices have gone up across Long Island for the last eight straight weeks. Officials say the prices for gas are at a record high for this time of year.
News 12 Long Island's Erin Colton was at a Smithtown Mobil station on Jericho Turnpike where a gallon of regular gas is $3.89 a gallon.
However, drivers are finding out that if they use a credit card at the pump, the price is increased by a $1.00.
Prices remain about 30 cents higher than a month ago. The price is close to the all time high of $4.11 for a gallon.
News 12 Long Island spoke to some drivers who say when they realized it would cost them more to use a credit card, they decided to go to another station.
