A gas leak on City Island forced the evacuation of 20 homes and shut down part of a street Wednesday morning. 

Construction crews broke a high pressure gas main at around 10:30 a.m., affecting residents along Tier Street and City Island Avenue. 

Con Edison crews and the FDNY responded.

All residents who were evacuated were allowed back into their homes at around noon.
