Friends and family are saying goodbye today to actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.
More than 400 people packed into the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola for a private memorial service. Among the mourners were stars like Cate Blanchett, Ethan Hawke, Louis C.K. and Spike Lee.
More is also being uncovered about the actor's battle with drugs. In a Time Magazine obituary by screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, Hoffman is quoted as saying if he ever died from a heroin overdose, he hoped it would scare others into getting clean.
Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment last weekend after an apparent overdose from the said drug.
A larger memorial service is being planned for later this month.
