The family of a Long Island woman who underwent emergency open-heart surgery 10 years ago met with her doctors to offer their thanks.
The Errante family got to say thank you to the doctors and nurses at Stony Brook University Hospital who helped bring triplets Samantha, Joseph and Michael into the world.
In 2005, Roseann Errante was experiencing chest pain while seven months pregnant with her triplets. Doctors determined that she had a tear inside the wall of her aorta and immediately took her in for open-hearth surgery.
Doctors had to deliver the babies two months early via cesarean section.
"All of the surgeries had a high probability of not a good outcome," says Joseph Errante, the triplets' father. He went on to say that it's a miracle that everything went well.
The triplets are now 10 years old and will be heading into the fifth grade.
