Experts are advising motorists to stay off roads due to icy conditions.
If residents must venture out, experts say to drive slow and keep distance between your car and the car in front of you.
AAA's Robert Sinclair also advises putting hands in the '4 and 8' position on the wheel instead of the typical '10 and 2' position.
Sinclair says the first position leaves your elbows in your lap and maintains a more steady control of steering.
Other tips include steering gently, braking gently and laying off cruise control to avoid deadly skids.
