An Elmont man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend at the Belmont racetrack.

Jose Franco-Martinez was convicted in April in the 2018 murder of Maria Larin.

Prosecutors say he became enraged when she ended the relationship.

The two worked with horses at the track.

Larin was stabbed while on the job.
