Rescuers pulled an elderly man from his burning home in Hempstead early this morning, officials say.The fire sparked in the home on Alicia Court at around 4:30 a.m. Firefighters say the first and second floors were fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived on the scene.A 71-year-old man was found unconscious inside the kitchen. Police say he has been hospitalized in critical condition, but is expected to survive. The man's identity has not yet been released.Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
