A Commack homeowner came to the rescue after a 79-year-old driver crashed his car into their pool Monday afternoon.

Police say the driver was in a parking lot on Harned Road when he hit the gas instead of the brake. The SUV broke through a fence and landed in a backyard pool on Smiths Lane.

The homeowner broke the car's side window and rescued the driver.

The driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
