A Deer Park doctor was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison.

Frank Parasmo had previously been convicted of illegally distributing oxycodone and hydrocodone.

Prosecutors say Parasmo, 76, prescribed the painkiller to 18 patients who did not need it.

They say some of the patients had just left rehab and others were possibly selling the pills on the street.
