Construction has started on a new residential and retail complex in Yaphank. 

The development will include stores, a hotel and 850 housing units, according to Newsday. 

An artist's rendering of the new Meadows at Yaphank on William Floyd Parkway was revealed. 

Work began yesterday and is expected to take 10 years to complete.
