Crews from more than a dozen fire departments battled a large brush fire in Manhasset Monday.

Fire officials say the fire started at the Greentree Estate, also known as the old Whitney Estate, located off of Community Drive. The area is just east of North Shore Hospital.

The Manhassett Lakeville Fire Department along with 14 neighboring fire departments worked to extinguish the fire.

Chopper 12 video from the scene showed thick smoke rising from a wooded area, as well as flames on the ground in a nearby grassy field.
