Long Islanders donated blood in Bay Shore Wednesday in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Gold Hearts New York partnered with the New York Blood Center for the blood drive at South Shore Mall.

The student-led club helps Latino communities all over, including support for children battling cancer on Long Island and in Peru.

The New York Blood Center says blood supplies are low on Long Island and a single pint of blood can save up to three lives.
