A judge ordered a woman who allegedly lived with her three children in an extremely filthy Lindenhurst home to appear in court and explain her actions.
Ray Young, separated from his wife, Debra, and three children for four years, says he discovered bottles of urine, feces and stacks of used toilet paper throughout his family's Nevada Street house. He says the stench reached well outside the residence. Young says he came to the house to check the heat after neighbors told him the children were going to the car to stay warm. Debra and the kids were not present when police arrived. A neighbor who went into the home as a witness says it was an experience she won't be able to forget the rest of her life.
Child protective services is now handling the case and Young reapplied for custody Thursday. In earlier court battles between the couple, Young and his parents were accused of sexually abusing the children. Young's lawyer says the accusations were disproved time and again. The children are aged 10, 12 and 14.
Young's wife, who did not wish to speak to News 12 Long Island by phone, and kids were in Windham, New York, where her parents live. Debra Young must appear in court Friday morning to explain herself and defend her custody rights.
