Nassau police are searching for four men who they say invaded a house in Roosevelt and held an 18-year-old woman at knifepoint Friday afternoon.
According to investigators, the incident happened when the victim arrived home from work. The young woman was alone and about to take a shower when she heard noises, police say. She opened the bathroom door and saw four men in ski masks and gloves rummaging through her house.
Alex Rodriguez, the victim?s friend, says the burglars pushed the woman to the floor and ripped her shirt before ransacking the residence room by room.
Officials say one of the masked robbers held a knife to the woman's throat, but she escaped injury.
People in the community were shocked to hear about the brazen robbery. They say they're keeping their doors locked even in the middle of the day now.
?You're at home, trying to get yourself situated and the next thing you know, you hear something and people are in your house,? says a neighbor, Starmel Allah.
Investigators say that after the burglary, the four suspects drove away westbound on Centennial Avenue in a small green car with tinted windows.
Police are urging anyone with information about the home invasion to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
