* Flash Flood Warning for...
Western Suffolk County in southeastern New York...

* Until 1100 AM EDT

* At 958 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to
begin shortly. Radar estimated maximum hourly rates of up to 2
inches per hour that will cause more serious widespread urban
flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Islip, Brentwood, Commack, Huntington Station, Centereach, Deer
Park, Lindenhurst, Hauppauge, Ronkonkoma, Stony Brook, Babylon,
Holbrook, Dix Hills, Smithtown and Bay Shore.

Southeastern Nassau County in southeastern New York...

* Until 1115 AM EDT

* At 1015 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy showers with
embedded thunderstorms moving east. Radar estimated maximum hourly
rates of up to 1.5 inches per hour. This will cause widespread
minor to locally moderate urban flooding of low lying and poor
drainage areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Levittown, Massapequa, Farmingdale, Wantagh, East Meadow, Merrick,
East Massapequa, Bethpage, Bellmore, Seaford, North Wantagh and
Plainedge.

* At 725 AM EDT, An area of heavy showers and embedded thunderstorms
will cause urban flooding in the advisory area.

* Rainfall rates of around 1 inch per hour have been observed.
Excessive runoff from this heavy rainfall will cause flooding of
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
drainage areas and low lying spots.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Newark, Jersey City, Yonkers, Paterson, Elizabeth, New Rochelle,
Flushing, Passaic, Bayonne, White Plains, Wayne, Mott Haven,
Hoboken, Plainfield and Bloomfield.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
