CENTRAL ISLIP - Police say three people were hurt after a roaring fire ripped through an apartment complex in Central Islip.

The fire broke out at the Windbrooke Apartments on Feller Drive last night.

According to police, two firefighters received minor injuries and a resident was treated for smoke inhalation. The Red Cross says a total of 12 people were displaced by the fire and received funds for items like food and clothing.

The residents opted to stay with family or friends.

It is not clear what started the fire.
