Dreary and cloudy weather continues Sunday night across Long Island as a warm front slowly approaches from the south. Showers are likely to pop up and pass through the area tonight. A stray thundershower cannot be completely ruled out. Overnight low temperatures will fall to near 50 degrees with the development of fog that could be dense especially out east.
Monday opens up with lingering fog and showers, but the fog lifts through the late morning and early afternoon breaking the sky to feature a glimpse of the sun. It will be a mostly cloudy Monday with highs near 69. Humidity levels will be on the rise as well given a strong southerly breezy at 10-20mph.
A cold front steams through Monday overnight into Tuesday morning where more scattered rain is expected. These overnight showers have a better chance to produce a thunderstorm as well. Severe weather is not expected, but thunderstorms still produce dangerous lightning. Monday night’s low will be 57 and it turns breezy overnight.
Tuesday starts damp with ending showers giving way to increasing sunshine. It will be a windy day with a westerly wind with gusts up to 30mph. Sunshine allows temperatures to surge to near 70 for an afternoon high.
The wind relaxes for Wednesday and there will be more sun than clouds. Wednesday’s high will be 65.
Unsettled weather makes another onslaught for Thursday afternoon, and it continues into Saturday bringing periods of heavy rain Thursday night and Friday. Thursday's high will 59.
