A water main break in Baldwin created a sinkhole that nearly swallowed a car.
The entirety of Anderson Street flooded after a 16-inch water main burst at around 4:30 a.m. The water created a hole that measured about 20 feet wide and 6 feet deep.
A car, with its rear tires up in the air, had its front end submerged in the hole.
A neighbor who found his tap water wasn't working called police after he noticed the flood in the street.
Officials say the incident may have been caused by fluctuating temperatures.
Water had to be shut off to 14 homes while crews worked on the broken section of the water main. Officials from NY American Water handed out gallons of fresh water to the neighbors who were affected.
