Volunteers delivered meals to homeless veterans so they can enjoy the Super Bowl.
Army veteran Robert Cornicelli organized the effort to deliver the donated hero sandwiches and wings from Tuscany Gourmet Market to 165 veterans, including half a dozen vets at Phoenix House, a drug treatment facility in Lake Ronkonkoma.
"If I get to sit home with my family on Super Bowl and I'm enjoying the day, some aren't," said Cornicelli, of the Veterans for a More Responsive Government. "They're in shelters, they're out in the street. So it's about getting them motivated to come back into the community."
The organization also delivers food to shelters on holidays.
