The National September 11th Museum houses thousands of items from survivors, victims and recovery workers.

News 12 Long Island's Virginia Huie has the story of a Long Islander who is among hundreds of museum volunteers, giving meaning to the artifacts by sharing her story of loss.

The first thing you hear when you walk into the museum is the voices of Americans remembering where they were.

One of the voices of 9/11 belongs to Caitlin Langone, of Williston Park. Caitlin was 12 years old when her father, Tommy Langone, a New York City police officer, was killed while rescuing people from the World Trade Center. Her uncle, Peter Langone, an FDNY firefighter, also died.

In memory of her father, Caitlin wears her hair NYPD blue and shares his story of heroism with the world.

Caitlin tells News 12 she misses her hero father every day, but honoring his sacrifice by giving a voice to the fallen is healing her heart.
