Students at Sachem East High School held an emotional tribute to Josh Mileto Friday night, one day after he died in a football training camp accident.
Flowers were put up near the football field along with signs reading "RIP #5."
Mileto's mother posted to her Facebook page saying that Josh's organs were donated. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Joshua Mileto Memorial Fund.
The wake for Mileto is set for Monday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at McManus-Lowery Funeral Home in Medford. Funeral services will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Lake Ronkonkoma at 9:30 Tuesday morning.
News 12 Long Island has reported that Mileto, a Sachem East High School football player, died during a strength and conditioning drill. He and other teammates were carrying a log overhead when it fell and hit the teen in the head, causing his death.
Log training is a common drill used in the military.
