Video obtained exclusively by News 12 shows a 2014 incident in which a teacher slams a special-needs student into a locker and then puts the student in a headlock.

Attorney Kenneth Mollins says the student in the video is ninth-grader Christian Cortez. The boy is walking the wrong way down a one-way hallway in the Brentwood Freshmen Center when the teacher grabs him. The boy is then taken outside, handcuffed, placed on the ground and surrounded by security guards.

News 12 first reported on the incident in March 2015. At the time, the district refused to release the surveillance video but told the state Department of Education that the student was "uncontrollable." The state investigated the incident. Its report says, "The district reported that the student struck the teacher in the abdomen and shoulder, and the student then shoved the teacher in an attempt to get past."

Mollins says the video demonstrates that Cortez didn't show signs of aggression.

"This video shows that the school unequivocally lied about this entire event," says Mollins.

Mollins says even though the video is now public, the family does not want to file a lawsuit and feels their son has been through enough.

A statement from the Brentwood school district says, "The district implemented corrective action and in this case training was conducted for district staff members who may be called upon to implement emergency intervention procedures in the future."
