Trash company that underpaid workers, stole $222K from Smithtown ordered to pay restitution
The owners of a trash management company that ripped off the town of Smithtown have been ordered to make restitution payments.

The owners of Garofalo Carting Company pleaded guilty in May and admitted overbilling taxpayers for trash removal services and underpaying employees.
Garofalo Carting Company was ordered to return $222,000 to the town and pay $32,000 to workers who were shortchanged.
