Transportation advocates are speaking up just a week after the MTA unveiled its first draft of the Bronx bus route redesign proposal.
The proposed plan is expected to make some big changes around the entire borough, but advocates say it is essential that every day riders take part in that plan.

Members from the Bus Turnaround Coalition, along with New York State Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, chanted for the best possible service in the Bronx today.
The group handed out flyers to residents and commuters riding on the Bx27 bus Friday afternoon in hope that they attend the upcoming open hearing the MTA plans to hold before launching the second draft of its proposal.
The MTA’s plan focuses on four points to make bus service better in the borough. The points include designing new easy connections, streamlining bus routes, making them more direct, and minimizing turns to improve speed and intra-borough travel.
While many seem excited about the plan, others say it’s important to keep the community involved.
“We would like to see an expansion of dedicated bus lanes on high frequency corridors, and we would also like to see expansion of automated cameras; we need to make sure they're following the timeline, if they even have a timeline and we need to make sure they have a clear set of goals,” says Liam Blank, tri-state campaign advocacy manager.
The MTA will be holding its first open house for community feedback on Tuesday.
