A three-alarm fire damaged two Bronx buildings Friday afternoon, sending one resident screaming for help.

The FDNY said the fire started in an apartment on the second floor of a building on Burke Avenue. Neighbors said a woman lives there with her son. They said the woman ran out of the apartment screaming that the apartment was on fire.

A neighbor said he tried to help by getting a fire extinguisher, but was too late. He called 911.

According to the FDNY, the fire blew out the roof and windows and spread to the adjacent building. Both buildings suffered extensive damage.

Officials are not sure how the fire started, but they are investigating the matter. They said no one was injured.
