Thousands of children in need who normally may not have their holiday wishes granted will be getting gifts with the help of the community.
The nonprofit organization Jersey Cares created Frosty's Friends to fulfill the holiday wishes of children facing hardships.
Children send their holiday wish letters to Frosty’s Friends each year. The letters are collected from about 40 other state-wide 501c3 nonprofits.

As the organization collects the letters, it then sends them out to those in the community who offer to fulfill them.
Service Events Manager Meagan Mulligan says it’s uplifting to see how many people are getting involved. “It's overwhelming at times to see the amount, but it's also incredibly empowering to see how many people have stepped up and really make a difference for these kids,” she says.

This year, more than 5,000 children have written letters asking for a variety of gifts. Jersey Cares checks all the letters that are sent and makes sure that they fall within a $25-$40 gift parameter.

Mulligan says the children’s wishes can be fulfilled online as well. “We also have our Amazon Wish List…all of the letters and the gifts that are tied to the children’s letters. So, even though it only takes you two seconds and two clicks, you're making such a huge impact in such a small amount of time so we're really able to help as many children as possible.”

As of Thursday afternoon, Frosty’s Friends has fulfilled 5,300 letters, setting a new record.
