Sweetbriar Nature Center's resident groundhog got an early start on Groundhog Day this year.
Huntington Town Highway Superintendent Andre Sorrentino and Sweetbriar's Niblet offered an early Groundhog Day prediction.
"Niblet and I had a sitdown, and we sat down and talked about hopefully having an early spring, and she was pretty good with it and so am I," said Sorrentino. "Hopefully she can scare the rain away, too."
Sorrentino brought Niblet fruits and vegetables in hope of convincing her to call an early spring so the town can get an early start on fixing potholes and road repaving.
