Blue Door Art Center is a nonprofit group located along Riverdale Avenue that displays the work of local artists.
"The purpose is to bring attention to local artists from Yonkers and the Westchester area,” says Michele Amaro, the gallery director of the center.
The center has workshops that kids can sign up for and express themselves through art
You can also take a peaceful stroll in downtown Yonkers in Van Der Donck Park. The area is where the Sawmill River meets the Hudson. The mixed water provides nutrients for wildlife to thrive.
Yonkers is also home to the popular family owned seafood restaurant Off the Hook.
"We source all our fish from Hunts Point, we go there once or twice a week, we clean our own fish,” says owner Avian Dandridge.
Some dishes served include Louisiana-style catfish po'boy, shrimp etouffee, soul food and fish and chips.
