Suffolk unveils memorial to Sept. 11 victims
Suffolk County honored the 178 residents killed in the Sept. 11 2001 terrorist attacks with a new memorial and ceremony Thursday night.
The names of each of those residents are etched in glass panels that surround the newly unveiled Garden of Remembrance in Hauppauge.
For the mother of Glen Pettit, an NYC police officer and News 12 Long Island photographer, time hasn?t made it any easier to lose a son. Jane Wixted says it?s only gotten harder.
The architect of the memorial Barry Silberstang says the garden is for the spirit of the fallen, which is why visitors can only walk around it and not go inside.
