A suspected drunk driver led police on a nearly hourlong chase through Suffolk County early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:23 a.m., police say they tried to pull over 21-year-old David Bonilla on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station.
Investigators say Bonilla took off across Suffolk’s North Shore, with multiple police units in hot pursuit for the next 47 minutes.
Police say the suspect tried to ram into one of the officers' vehicles, and then took off westbound on Nesconset Highway, but he was driving in the eastbound lanes.
Police say Bonilla drove on and off highways and into residential areas, even driving with his lights off, before he was eventually stopped on the southbound Sunken Meadow Parkway in Commack. They say no one was seriously injured.
Bonilla is charged with DWI, fleeing a police officer, reckless driver and resisting arrest.
News 12 is told that two police officers were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with minor injuries.
