Suffolk police: Driver dead, passenger hurt in LIE crash

The 39-year-old driver and 40-year-old passenger were both rushed to Long Island Community Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead, and the passenger was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Suffolk police confirmed one person is dead after an early Sunday morning crash on the Long Island Expressway that shut down the roadways.
They say it happened around 12:35 a.m. westbound on the LIE near Exit 65.
The 39-year-old driver and 40-year-old passenger were both rushed to Long Island Community Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead, and the passenger was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
No criminality is found at this time.
