Suffolk police: Setauket man found dead in submerged car in Stony Brook

A man was found dead inside his vehicle that entered the water off a fishing dock in Stony Brook near Shore Road.

Suffolk police say the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m.

A 2005 Lexus was pulled from the water. The body of a 30-year-old Setauket man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A viewer video and pictures from the scene showed a crowd of people watching as the Stony Brook Fire Department’s Ladder 16 truck illuminated the waterway.

Police have not yet said how the car ended up in the water. The name of the deceased has not been released yet. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
