Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy has submitted a budget plan without any tax increases for 2010, but some say his numbers don?t add up.

Levy?s numbers hinge on a 5 percent increase in sales tax revenues over the next year, which means residents would have to spend more. Leg. Dan LoSquadro (R-Rocky Point) says economists he?s spoken to say Levy is being over-optimistic.

However, Dowling College economist Marty Cantor says because sales tax revenue has fallen off so sharply, even a small increase is not unrealistic.

Still, residents say they?re feeling the economy improve very slowly, if at all, despite what the experts say.
