Suffolk County District Court Judge, 6th District (Brookhaven)
John J. Andrews
Republican
Background: Andrews, 61, of Mount Sinai, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Reform party lines in the general election.  Andrews has been a court of claims law clerk since 2015 and was an arbitrator from 2000 to 2015, handling small claims cases. He served as an assistant district attorney for Suffolk County from 1982 to 1989. Andrews received his undergraduate degrees from Suffolk County Community College in 1976 and the State University of New York at Oneonta in 1978. He graduated from Capital University Law School in 1982 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1983. Andrews is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and served on its Fee Dispute Resolution Committee from 2000 to 2015.
Edward J. Hennessey 
Democratic
Background: Hennessey, 56, of East Moriches, is running on the Democratic and Women's Equality Party line in the general election. He is an attorney who owned a practice with an office in Shirley from 1990 to 2015, with a focus on criminal law. Hennessey served in the New York State Assembly from 2013 to 2015 and acted as general counsel for Long Island Public Service Employees Local 342 from 1990 to 1999. He was a Brookhaven Town Councilman from 1994 to 2005 and a prosecutor in the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office from 1988 to 1990. Hennessey also served as a policy adviser in the state Senate from 2009 to 2012. Hennessey received his undergraduate degree from St. John's University in Queens in 1984 and graduated with his law degree from Touro College in 1988. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1989. He has been a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association since 1988.
Peter P. Legakis
Democratic
Background: Legakis, 63, of Setauket, is running on the Democratic, Working Families and Women's Equality party lines in the general election. He has been an attorney at Legakis & Vetere, Esqs P.C. since 1995, taking on community-based and nonprofit cases, and was an associate at Glynn & Mercep, Esqs. from 1991-1995. Legakis served as a law assistant to a Civil Court judge in Queens County from 1989-1991, an associate at Kazazis & Associates from 1987-1988, and an associate at Ginsberg & Katsorhis, P.C. from 1982-1984. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1977 and his master's degree in 1978 from Stony Brook University. Legakis graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1981. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1982 and to the U.S. District Court, Eastern District in 1982 and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York in 1987. Legakis has been a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association since 1990 and a member of the District Court Small Claims Arbitrator's Committee since 2001. He served on the Town of Brookhaven Ethics Board from 2012-2018.
James A. Saladino
Republican
Background: Saladino, 54, of Port Jefferson is running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform party lines in the general election. He is currently a principal law clerk for Supreme Court Justice William J. Condon and was a law clerk for the acting New York State Supreme Court Justice James Hudson from 2011 to 2017. Saladino was a part-time Deputy Town Attorney in Riverhead responsible primarily for enforcement of Town Code violations in the Riverhead Town Justice Court from Feb. 2010 to Dec. 2010. He was a partner in the firm, Saladino & Harthill, LLP from May 2002-2010. Saladino was an Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County from Dec. 1991 to 1999 and July 2000 to April 2002. He was a Deputy Town Attorney in Southampton from Jan. 2000 to May 2000, serving as Counsel to the Southampton Zoning Board of Appeals. Saladino received his undergraduate degree from Boston University in 1986 and graduated from St. John's University School of Law in 1990. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1991. Saladino is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and was Criminal Law Committee Chair from 2005-2006; 2008-2009; 2009-2010. He is a member of the Suffolk County Columbian Lawyers and a past president, 1997. He is a member of the Suffolk Country Criminal Bar Association.
Garrett W. Swenson Jr.
Republican
Background: Swenson, 62, of Brookhaven is running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform party lines in the general election. He is a civil litigation lawyer with an office in Brookhaven since 2008. Swenson served as a town attorney for the Town of Southampton from 2006-2008, and chief deputy town attorney for the Town of Brookhaven from 2004-2006. He worked for the Suffolk County Department of Law as a bureau chief from 2000-2004, deputy bureau chief from 1998-2000, and a principal assistant county attorney from 1993-1998. Swenson served as the assistant town attorney for the Town of Brookhaven Department of Law from 1988-1993, principal assistant county attorney at the Suffolk County Department of Law from 1984-1988, a litigation associate at Rivkin, Radler, Dunne & Bayh, Esqs. from 1982-1984, and an associate at the Law Office of Peter D. Kolbrener from 1981-1982. Swenson received his undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University in 1978 and graduated from Hofstra University School of Law in 1982. He was admitted to the New York State Appellate Bar in 1982, New York Eastern and Southern District bars in 1984, United States Supreme Court Bar in 1986, and the United States Court of Appeals Bar in 1992. Swenson served as the co-chairman of the Municipal Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association from 2004-2006.
